Diet Coke Launches a Nail Polish Line

Diet Coke Launches a Nail Polish Line

Since when did Diet Coke and fashion come into the mix? Well now that I think about it, it wasn’t too long ago when Karl Lagerfeld did a campaign for Coca Cola Lite with his own signature bottle.

The Coca Cola company has made a deal with Nails Inc to create Diet Coke City Collection. The line is inspired by the fashion capitals of the world such as London, New York, Milan and Paris but here’s the best part…the nail polishes will be given away totally free! Ya heard me!

With every purchase of two 500ml Diet Coke bottles you can snatch up the 4-piece collection for free. There is a downside though. Apparently this offer is at Boots which is in London. Bummer!

The 4-piece collection comes in:

  • London-nude hue
  • Paris- Deep purple
  • Milan- red hue
  • New York- bright fuschia pink

The Dangers Of Using Expired Cosmetics

According to the experts, it is important to get rid of make up once it expires.

You need to do this because your skin might get infected. You might actually acquire skin breakouts like rashes and other skin related disease due to expired make up.

Expired cosmetics can also cause pink eye which can be so irritating. Cosmetic products usually don’t have expiration labels so it is hard to determine whether it is expired or not.

Make up expiration dates serve only as a guide and there are times when the product expires long before its actual term if it is not stored well.cosmetics

From the time that you use a product, it acquires bacteria and its life span decreases. It is best to handle the product with care. It is advisable that you keep it in a dry and cool place.

If you notice any changes in product like its texture or smell, throw it right away. Make up usually consists of preservatives that can kill bacteria acquired through common use. However based on research, any make up that you purchase may contain little bacteria. (more…)

How to Apply Foundation

Make Up 101: How to Apply Foundation

For flawless and more eventone skin, foundation is used to camoflouge your imperfections. It’s my life saver and when combined with a concealer, powder or both, I feel much more comfortable stepping out. However, not everyone uses foundation and that’s fine. In fact, many skip this part and uses only a concealer and powder because either they don’t need or they don’t like the feeling of foundation on their face. Since everyone’s skin is different, I always find it best to just experiment and find out what’s best for you. I think all women should have some kind of foundation even if you were it only during special occasions.

If your skin is not troublesome, then an alternative option is a tinted moisturizer. I use one too especially during the summer. I tend to wear foundation less often during the day due to the heat.

If you like to wear foundation but don’t know the proper technique, then keep reading!

HOW TO APPLY FOUNDATION (LIQUID)

  1. Moisturize skin- Wait 5 to 10 minutes before applying foundation. That should be enough time for the skin to absorb it.
  2. Using the back of your hand, squeeze a little amount of your foundation.
  3. With a brush, sponge, or fingers, (I like to use a brush) dab  small amount into the foundation.
  4. When applying on the face, always start at the forehead and work your way down. Blending is very important so make sure to blend down to your nose, cheeks and then chin. You just want a very thin layer.
  5. To cover up any imperfections, blemishes or discoloration, use a concealer and a apply with a brush or you can use your fingers. A brush is better!
  6. To finish, grab a large fluffy brush and tap it in powder and glide lightly all over your face. (more…)

12 Piece Professional Brush Makeup

Sigma Makeup 12 Piece Professional Brush (The Find)

Makeup is expensive enough, but makeup applicators and brushes can be downright ridiculous in price. If it’s not within your budget to have a full set of high-priced brushes just to put on powder and a bit of eyeshadow, you might want to have a look at Sigma, who make professional standard brushes at very reasonable prices compared to other high-end brands. I think there’s something to be said for each of the sets that Sigma offers, but the one that really caught my eye is this complete kit of professional brushes. With a price of $69 at Mulberrypink.com for 12 brushes… it’s really hard to find a deal like that if the quality of your makeup brushes is important to you. (more…)

Green Beauty Products

The jane iredale Refillable Compact not only contains an all natural pressed powder but it is sustainable, durable, refillable, and light. After experimenting with many different materials, jane iredale decided that anodized aluminum meets their criteria.

Anodizing has been called the “green,” or environmentally friendly finish in the metal finishing field for some time. The process releases few toxins into the environment, uses almost no heavy materials, and uses chemicals and metals that are recycled easily. Finished products made from anodized aluminum are nontoxic and can be recycled over and over again. (more…)

Harmful and Genuine Skin Care Products

Cosmetics and skin care products have become an important part of our daily life. Almost all of us bring skin care products into use for curing various skin related problems. Skin care is of utmost importance with most people these days. However, it has become really hard to make out between the genuine and the harmful skin care products.

Harmful Skin Care Products

There are numerous skin care products which are being made from harmful chemicals and preservatives in them to cure the skin ailments. However, these products harm our skin and damage it. Skin is the most delicate part of the body that needs a mild care. Different types of chemicals that are being used in these skin care products prove to be very damaging to the skin.

All the floral water that we use in face packs or for cleansing the skin is being manufactured with synthetic fragrance oils that actually harm the skin. Most of the moisturizers and skin care creams that we use comprise of propylene glycol and diethanolamine, which are carcinogenic and cause harm to the skin. The shampoos, bubble baths and soaps that we use contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and are used to produce more of lather. This chemical is generally used in the whitening toothpastes. All the mineral oils and paraffin wax use derivative of petroleum products that deficiently affects the skin. It is not true that all the synthetic chemicals are toxic, as some of them if used in adequate amount can help in enhancing the skin. (more…)

Google it. You’ll see.  Some question whether or not the coal tars used may be carcinogenic, others are put off by the possibility of lead being used in lip products, and still others of us simply just don’t want to paint our precious puckers with anything even potentially questionable. MAC Greasepaint Sticks

Mac

I’ve always wondered what liner and/or primer Amy Winehouse uses. No matter how rough a night she’s had – and let’s face it, she’s had her share – her eyeliner always remains astonishingly resilient. Whereas no matter what combination of primer and liner I use, I always end up with it smeared within two hours of application. What sacrifice must I offer to the maquillage gods in order to rectify this?

I thought MAC Greasepaint Sticks might be the answer. They certainly go on smoothly. But the one I tried smudged instantly and – more distressingly – took quite a lot of eye makeup remover and elbow grease to get off. I am very diligent about removing every last trace of face paint before bed, as those lingering smudges can settle into thin undereye skin and make me look ten years older than I am.

Well, I had to use no fewer than six cotton pads soaked in eye makeup remover, and even then, I woke up the next morning with raccoon rings under my peepers. I can’t deal with that, so the search for Winehouse-esque staying power rides on. What do you use?
